Special Session Call for Papers:
Special Session: CSC2015-07
Quantitative Risk and Reliability Assessment in Civil and Environmental Engineering
Session Aims and Scope
Estimating and controlling risks and reliabilities are key aspects towards achieving safety and desired performance of engineering systems. However, the quantitative treatment of risk and reliability is not an easy task, as it requires in-depth knowledge and effective use of specialized computational approaches. This Special Session focuses on the risk/reliability assessment of civil and environmental engineering systems using soft computing (heuristic/evolutionary methods, neural networks and other meta-modelling techniques, probabilistic/fuzzy approaches, etc.). Hence, contributions are welcome, which demonstrate the exploitation of soft computing techniques in risk/reliability analysis, describe new or customized soft computing approaches for risk/reliability assessment, comparatively evaluate the use of soft computing techniques to other classical or qualitative risk/reliability assessment approaches, etc. Optimization approaches explicitly treating risk or reliability are also within the scope of this Special Session. The following engineering application areas are of interest to the Special Session: structural, infrastructure, transport, environmental, etc.
For specific questions regarding the scope of this session please contact the organisers:
  • Professor D.C. Charmpis and Professor L. Dimitriou, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Cyprus, Republic of Cyprus, (charmpis/ucdimit AT

Please note that papers that are found to fall outside the scope of this session may be considered for other sessions.

Abstract Submission
To submit abstracts for this special session, please follow the normal abstract submission procedure but please select "CSC2015-S07" when asked "Is this paper part of a special session?"
