Computational Analysis of Large-Scale Structures
organised by Dr R.Y. Xiao
Swansea University, UK
With the development of quickly improved computational methods and computing resources it is more mature now for the numerical modelling on a single structural element and single phase structural material. However, modelling, simulation and analysis by numerical approaches with computational analysis on large and complicated structural system and multi phase materials could be more difficult and challenging.

Large structural system modelling is difficult to be carried out which requires significant computing timing and resources. The first difficulty is to tackle different types of structural element of which need to be correctly modelled and closely matched to its prototype structure system. This has already been proved to be a daunting task. The second difficulty is to provide suitable models for single and/or multiple materials composition and interaction. This special session aims to attract the presentations of the recent development for the computational methods to deal with large structural system numerical analysis with focusing on its connection, contact, link, crack and separation. This also includes material properties modelling with the consideration on composition, interaction, softening and hardening behavior.

Please note that papers that are found to fall outside the scope of this session may be considered for other sessions.
