Special Session
CST2014-S02
Multi-Scale Modelling of Materials with Heterogeneous Microstructure
organized by
Dr J. Nemecek
Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic; and
Dr. Ondrej Jiroušek
Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics
Czech Republic
Session Aims and Scope
The session focuses on recent developments in multi-scale modelling of variety of materials with heterogeneous microstructure. Papers on structural and constitutive behaviour of materials incorporating their heterogeneities with various geometries and appearing at different material scales into computational models are welcome. Special attention will be paid to men-made cellular materials such as metal foams, ceramics, porous polymers, glass and rubbers. Papers related to natural cellular materials animal tissues (e.g. trabecular bone), wood, cork, bamboo or coral are also welcome.
Papers should be devoted (but not limited to) modelling of material deformation, constitutive behaviour, energy absorption or energy storing, simulations, development of multi-scale models, microstructure description, computer tomography observations, FEM, XFEM or mesh-less microstructural modelling, identification of material properties on several length scales, identification of deformation mechanisms (bending, buckling, plasticity and fracture), fluid-structure interactions, microstructural optimizations.
