Coupled Multi-Physics Multibody Dynamics Modeling and Simulation Techniques
organised by Prof. T. Wasfy
Purdue School of Engineering & Technology at IUPUI, USA
Session Aims and Scope
This session is devoted to papers dealing with multibody dynamics problems that involve strong coupling with other solution fields such as fluid, thermal, electrical and magnetic fields. Papers that deal with developing new solution algorithms as well as applying and integrating existing solution techniques to solve new complex problems are sought. Coupled multi-physics multibody dynamics papers dealing with the following topics are especially welcome:

  • Coupled fluid-multibody dynamics problems, such as: airplane wing flutter, flow past propellers, liquid sloshing in tanks, blood flow in flexible vessels and blasts on vehicles and structures.
  • Multibody systems involving electro-magnetic coupling such as electric motors.
  • Coupled multibody dynamics and thermo-mechanics problems that include heat generation (for example due to friction and damping), heat conduction and heat convection.
  • Molecular dynamics.
  • Lagrangian particle methods.
  • Multibody systems involving frictional and/or lubricated contact such as bearings, toroidal traction drives, belts and cams.
  • Multibody systems involving material non-linearity, plasticity, failure and fragmentation.
  • Large scale complex multibody applications such as: on-road/off-road ground vehicles, airplanes, industrial machines, engines, construction equipment, gear boxes, belt/chain drives, transmission systems and micro/nano electro-mechanical systems.
