Dynamic Response of Structures and Media
under Moving Forces or/and Masses:
from Modelling to Applications
organised by Professor Piotr Koziol
Koszalin University of Technology, Poland
and Professor Miguel de Matos Neves
Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, Portugal
Session Aims and Scope
The aim of this session is to bring together researchers and engineers from academia and industry, to share knowledge, experience and ideas in modelling the dynamic response of structures and media to moving forces and/or masses. It covers a broad research area from simple models to applications, analytical modelling, numerical simulations, design, experimental measurements and optimization. The organizers would like to focus on the following topics:

  • Analytical and numerical modelling for moving loads or/and masses
  • Layered media, finite phononic-like solutions, as well as periodic structures modelling
  • Wave propagation in dynamic systems
  • Semi-analytical approaches to dynamic systems analysis
  • Vibrations and noise generated by rail transportation
  • Vibration mitigation, prevention of surroundings against noise and vibrations
  • Measurements and experimental validation
  • Use of composite materials (e.g. cork composite and others) and technologies,
  • Investigation of railway safety and passengers comfort
  • Improvements and optimization techniques for track-soil vibration and/or railway vehicles
  • Stress wave patterns and amplification of train-track vibrations at high speeds
