Special Session Call for Papers:

Special Session: RW2016-S20
Mechanics of High-Speed Trains
Session Aims and Scope

High-speed trains are complex mechanical systems that contain many dynamic coupling problems such as fluid/solid coupling, wheel/rail coupling, pantograph/catenary interaction and aerodynamic/structure/vehicle coupling. These multidisciplinary coupling problems influence seriously the motion stability and the safety of operation.

The multidisciplinary dynamic coupling responses have been investigated with numerical tools and experimental methods in recent years. The physical mechanism of instantaneous dynamic responses and the calculated methods of single- or multi-disciplinary topics are dealth in this session, working as a forum to present recent advancements, exchange ideas and point directions for future research.

The Session will cover, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Time-dependent numerical simulation methods of single- or multi-disciplinary railway topics;
  • Experimental techniques applied in train dynamics;
  • Parameters influencing the train dynamic characteristics;
  • Simulations and experimental studies of dynamic responses and structural vibration under wind-gust, passing-by each other in tunnel or in open air.

Organisers
For specific questions regarding the scope of this session please contact the organisers:
  • Professor G. Yang, Key Laboratory for Mechanics in Fluid Solid Coupling Systems, Institute of Mechanics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, (gwyang AT imech.ac.cn)
  • Professor X. Shen, State Key Laboratory of Traction Power, Southwest Jiaotong University, China, (shengxiaozhen AT hotmail.com)

Please note that papers that are found to fall outside the scope of this session may be considered for other sessions.

Abstract Submission
To submit abstracts for this special session, please follow the normal abstract submission procedure but please select "RW2016-S20" when asked "Is this paper part of a special session?"
