Special Session Call for Papers:

Special Session: RW2016-S24
Advanced Diagnostics, Monitoring and Modelling of Railway Systems Electric Components
Session Aims and Scope

Diagnostics and condition based maintenance are fundamental in nowadays railway systems to optimize their performances in terms of safety, security and cost reduction. This session focuses on the electric components of both the infrastructure and rolling stock such as engines, converters, pantograph, sensors, batteries, data centers etc. Their correct operation is crucial and the physical quantities associated to them, which are often measured during regular train operation, can be used to set up a diagnostic procedure. Such procedures can be based on advanced modelling, computational intelligence techniques, mathematical tools and transforms.

This session aims at bringing together researchers and experts from universities, research centers, railway operators and industry focused on the electrical components of railway systems.

The Session will cover, but not limited to, the following topics (applied to railway systems)

  • Electric motors
  • Energy storage
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility
  • Neural Networks
  • Computational Intelligence
  • Signal Processing
  • Pantograph-catenary

Organisers
For specific questions regarding the scope of this session please contact the organisers:
  • Professor S. Barmada, University of Pisa, Italy (sami.barmada AT unipi.it)
  • Professor M. Tucci, University of Pisa, Italy (mauro.tucci AT dsea.unipi.it)

Please note that papers that are found to fall outside the scope of this session may be considered for other sessions.
